Long-tail Theory

The Long-tail Theory is applied to products for example if a really anticipated and long awaited for movie comes out the profit's will be huge for a while, however after time the sales will slowly go down until it reach's a certain point where the sales will deteriorate even slower and this is the long-tail of the theory, shaping a tail. Companies like Amazon and Netflix apply this theory to their sites.

An example of this would be how band's like Journey have had this effect by having their songs played and referenced on T.V and the internet, it is available on the internet a lot more then on the high street. This means that the product is available for a longer period of time which means it will be a lot more profitable into the future for a longer period of time.
